I've been playing a lot of Crypt of the Necrodancer lately. They added in a fourth boss, Coral Rift, and new characters. It's like a new game all over again. I like the extra characters, so I've been doing a lot of Dove (cannot attack) and Melody (attacks with sound, so walk next to enemies) runs. My headcanons are as follow. Dove is a devout Hindu protecting a dove she raised after the mother rejected her. Melody is an Irish bard trying to find her own ballad to tell.
