The New Sketching Details Merch Store

The New Sketching Details Merch Store

Hey everyone.

This is going to be a great week filled with opportunities and surprises. I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make a lot come through before the end of the year and I’m excited to share it with you.

I’ve rebuilt the Sketching Details Merch Store with all new products. This is entirely separate from the Etsy store, where products connected to my art and design work outside of Sketching Details will live.

The Sketching Details Merch Store is a great way to show your support of the site. I make it a point to make my work as accessible as possible, so all designs in all colors are offered in at least sizes S-5XL for the same price. Some products have an even wider range.

I’m launching the store with three exclusive designs only found at Sketching Details.

First, you have the Genre line. Sketching Details specializes in horror, sci-fi, and fantasy criticism and you can show your love for genre media with the new Eco Hoodie and Classic Tee. The front features the genres in a black and white TV testing pattern-inspired design. The left sleeve has the grayscale Sketching Details logo. The Eco Hoodies are available in sizes XS-5XL in black and white. The Classic Tees are available in sizes S-5XL in black, navy, maroon, red, sport grey, and white.

Second, you have the Vignette line. I’ve taken the Sketching Details logo and aged it to grayscale, with creeping shadows in the corners and faded graphics. This design is available in a Sweatshirt, Unisex Tee, and T-shirt dress. The Sweatshirts are available in sizes S-5XL in black, navy, red, sport grey, and white. The Unisex Tees are available in sizes XS-5XL in black heather, black, navy, red, dark grey heather, athletic heather, and white. The T-shirt Dresses are available in sizes 2XS-6XL in grey.

Third, you have the Signature line. This is the classic orange and neon Sketching Details logo in full color. This design is available in the new Eco Hoodie, Unisex Tee, and T-shirt Dress. The Eco Hoodies are available in sizes XS-5XL in black and white. The Unisex Tees are available in sizes XS-5XL in black heather, black, navy, red, dark grey heather, athletic heather, and white. The T-shirt Dresses are available in sizes 2XS-6XL in burgundy.

There are also accessories. The Vignette design is available on a large black Eco Tote, a color changing Magic Mug (just add hot liquid for the logo to emerge), and a sticker. The Signature design is available on a beige Eco Tote and a sticker.

All of these products are printed on demand from Printful. They use a direct-to-garment (DTG) printing technique for their products that has consistently great results. I’ve tested a lot of designs over the past year with a lot of different companies and Printful’s work always matches the original design regardless of the base color of the product. The company is also taking actionable steps to reduce their environmental impact, including investing in proprietary eco-friendly product options that, coincidentally, come in a wider variety of sizes than similarly priced garments from other companies.

I’ve included the sizing chart for each clothing item in the store with the listing. Here’s what I know about the fit and feel for most products.

The Hoodies run slightly larger. They are a boxier design with roomy shoulders. They’re also very soft and super comfortable. I practically live in the first hoodie I ordered as a test product last December and it still looks great.

The Classic Tees are a traditional menswear design and do run larger. They’re true to size to my shoulders but have enough room that I could go down a size if I wanted a more fitted shirt. They are a thicker t-shirt cotton material and have a bit more structure to them.

The Sweatshirts are also a traditional menswear design. They run true to size, but are baggy by design. They’re also very warm and super soft on the inside. I usually order a size up so I can pull my hands inside the sweater and cut out thumbholes in the cuffs.

The Unisex Tees are a traditional womenswear design, just cut slightly longer to be “unisex.” I go up a size on these products so they fit my shoulders. These shirts are super soft with a good amount of stretch. The tradeoff is a thinner t-shirt cotton that I feel more comfortable wearing with an undershirt.

The mugs, stickers, and bags from Printful are all super high quality. The stickers from my streaming emotes and art designs haven’t budged. The bags can take a beating. I like the quality of the mugs I’ve tested out, but I’ll stress again (like I do in the listing) that the Magic Mugs are not dishwasher or microwave safe and can stop working if exposed to those conditions.

The t-shirt dresses are a new product option, but I’ve played with similar materials from the store before and believe them to run true to size but boxier in shape. This material does have stretch to it and feels smooth on the skin.

All of the printing and shipping is handled by Printful. I design all the products myself to their quality specifications, work with their software to get the placement just right, and they handle the rest. Products can take 2-3 weeks to be manufactured and delivered once ordered. Printful has distribution centers all around the world so shipping delays tend to not be too bad.

I’m really excited to relaunch the Sketching Details Merch Store with this clear vision. I am looking at sourcing more clothing options, but only if they actually are available in a wide range of styles at a reasonable price.
